Heading north
Finnish electronics specialist Orbis is now marketing RF products from eubus in Scandinavia, the Baltic states and Russia.

Munich/Helsinki, September 19, 2006 – eubus, a provider of high-speed, FPGA-based electronic solutions and manufacturer of specialized test equipment for mobile networks, now has an official sales channels for its RF products in Scandinavia, the Baltic states and Russia too. This promising new northward course has been mapped out on the basis of a collaboration agreement with Orbis, a Finnish electronics specialist (www.orbis.eu). With immediate effect, Orbis is distributing eubus' entire spectrum of RF products in the Nordic markets. The joint agreement was signed and sealed – and put into practice for the first time – at the Finnish AEL Measuring & Testing 2006 trade show (August 30-31, 2006) in Malminkartano, near Helsinki. Since the two companies focus on different target customer groups, this collaboration should be the ideal complement to the business activities of both.

"It will be exciting to see how our customers respond to the new products from eubus," says Mika Holmström, Business Development Director at Orbis. "This spring, we visited Munich to kick the tires of eubus' RF technology for test environments. Now, at last, we can offer them to our international customers. In response to changed market conditions, this move significantly broadens our portfolio. So I think it is fair to call it a classic win-win situation."

The eubus staff who flew to Helsinki to attend the trade show are in full agreement: "Finland is known as the home of one of the world's leading telecom providers, which recently launched a network line in collaboration with its opposite number in Germany," says eubus developer Maximilian Ziegler. "Our products have a proven track record in mobile communications testing. So we hope that our Finnish partner will give an extra boost to sales of our professional equipment." Ziegler's colleague, consultant Christian Böttger, adds: "Orbis has 160 employees worldwide and already markets products from Narda and Rohde & Schwarz. That puts us in the best possible company at Orbis, a potent, rock-solid partner with excellent skills, manpower and contacts. No-one knows this stuff better than they do. And the chemistry between us is good too – as we discovered at AEL in Helsinki."

AEL Measuring & Testing 2006 (August 30-31, 2006), an annual trade show held in Malminkartano, near Helsinki, brings together the top professionals in the measurement and testing industry. While the exhibition focuses primarily on equipment, it also features an array of related seminars. The show targets measuring, testing and servicing professionals in the automation, electronics, electricity, computer and telecommunication sectors. Around 2000 participants attend the show each year.

Left to right: Christian Böttger and Maximilian Ziegler (both eubus) and a visibly happy Mika Holmström (Business Development Director Orbis). "AEL might not be the biggest trade show," Holmström said, "but it is still an important place of encounter for the northern hemisphere. We have had some very promising talks. The coming weeks and months will show where the journey will take us." For eubus, the compass is very definitely pointing north.
